Culprit spread racist slander that led to the racially charged riots at Low Yat Plaza on July 12.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police today arrested the owner of a Facebook account, ‘Papagomo Original’, that claimed to be that of blogger ‘Papagomo’.
The arrest was confirmed by Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, via his Twitter account @KBAB51, who congratulated the police team which nabbed the suspect in Perak.
“Well done JSJ D5 @PDRMsia, for arresting Papagomo Original in Perak,” he tweeted.
Previously, ‘Papagomo Original’, who was said to have disguised himself as blogger Papagomo, was responsible for spreading racist slander which eventually led to a riot at the Low Yat Plaza recently.
The suspect had also spread a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation, alleging that Khalid accepted a RM20,000 bribe from Papagomo.
Papagomo’s lawyer, Ahmad Shuaib Ismail also filed a report, saying the Facebook account did not belong to the blogger.
Khalid had vehemently denied his involvement in the corruption allegations.
Last Tuesday, blogger Papagomo, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris was detained by the police, following an incident of spreading false rumours regarding the brawl at Low Yat Plaza.
He was released last Friday.
