The 14 Kedah Umno division chiefs, who are pushing for the removal of Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as menteri besar, will not face any disciplinary action, says party secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
He said the Umno headquarters monitored the press conference held by the division chiefs yesterday, asking party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak to make changes to the top state leadership.
"They hope that the Umno president can immediately make changes for the sake of the party and the interests of the people of the state.
"Therefore, there is no issue in which Umno secretary-general should take disciplinary action against the 14 Kedah Umno division chiefs," he said in a statement tonight.
Yesterday, the division chiefs said they had lost confidence in the leadership of Mukhriz as menteri besar and state Umno liaison committee chairman. – Bernama
