I recall when Tun Dr Mahathir began talking about the Multimedia Super Corridor in the 1990s we were at first wondering what that meant.
I bought my first IBM PC (can anyone recall that) way back in 1986 in the United States and transported it back to Malaysia. At that time we were still at bits and kilobytes (kB). The IBM PC was at 256 kB. No such thing as MB or GB and no such thing as broadband.
At best there were fibre optic cables then. Gigabytes and terabytes were associated with fibre optic cables - the hardwiring part of an information technology network. There was no Internet until the 1990s.
Then after the MSC everything popped up overnite. Dr Mahathir incorporated the MSC and the Internet into his Vision 2020 (which we are NOT going to achieve now).
More important than the hardware Tun Dr Mahathir created FOUR new cyber laws and guaranteed the freedom of the Internet from any kind of censorship. During the time of the Great Dictator Dr Mahathir not a single website was blocked, especially websites that criticised the government. Go back and check. Not a single site was blocked by the Dictator Dr Mahathir.
Because Dr Mahathir said to be a developed nation our people must have access to instant communications and dissemination of information. That was what the MSC really meant.
Today, 13 years after the Great Dictator has retired and TWO prime ministers later we read this :
Sarawak Report has been blocked.
Malaysian Chronicle has been blocked.
Now Asia Sentinel has been blocked.
The question is why have they been blocked?
Is it because they say 'we should admire ISIS'?
Is it because they say 'we will burn down Petaling Street'?
Is it because they say 'we will break the cross on the church'?
Is it because they say, 'its ok to accept RM2.6b donations'?
Malaysian Chronicle has been blocked.
Now Asia Sentinel has been blocked.
The question is why have they been blocked?

Is blocking websites Najib's idea of a high income, developed nation?
If so, why not just shut down the Internet?

Just lock up all the critics, shut down any newspaper or media that you dont like and convert the country into North Korea.
After that you can just eat sh*t for breakfast and say 'Wow it tastes so good'.
The country is shutting down.
