Hadi’s playbook: When all else fails, invoke God

YOURSAY | ‘Surely selecting a candidate to represent us has nothing to do with hell and damnation.’
Iiiizzzziiii: And there you have it; this came from the horse’s mouth.
And who is Abdul Hadi Awang? A self-appointed prophet? It has come down to using fire and brimstone to frighten the ordinary folks to vote for PAS.
Hadi, since you have delivered your damnation to all the folks in Sungai Besar, perhaps it is only fair to deliver you another verdict from those, namely myself and myself again, not in alignment with your damnation - and that is, for every folk who voted against PAS - whatever you wish onto them shall be returned to you a thousand times more.
Anonymous 1890491455255851: This, for me, is why it is just not appropriate for religious leaders to be involved in governing.
And this is, religious leaders of any faith. They always, without exception, take the obvious path of putting fear of God into the hearts and minds of their followers to get what they want.
I don't know what you think, but this sounds morally and ethically wrong. And this tactic is used often by Umno members, who feel they have some sort of direct line to God and are the chosen few.
I think politicians should really be banned from using religion to sway people to fulfil their political ambitions. This is just simply wrong by any one's reasoning.
Oxymoronictendencies: The country as a whole is already suffering from "divine punishment" as we didn't just elect one "wrong" MP - in 2013 we elected 133 "wrong" MPs.
Oops, 134. I forget the second biggest one we got wrong. Hadi himself. I still have to rate our current PM as number 1 - the biggest one we got "wrong".
As the saying goes "you reap what you sow", and we, the Malaysian people (regardless of ethnicity), have "sown" a bunch of corrupt, immoral and unprincipled people to govern this country.
And now we "reap" the consequences of our stupidity. Sadly, it appears that too many Malaysians cannot see passed some free cash, cash that has been stolen from them in the first place. It’s truly oxymoronic.
I find it difficult to believe that some people are so simple minded. And the saddest and most shocking part is that it seems that not one of those 134 have an ounce of integrity and are all happy to "cari makan" for themselves and support a regime that exudes corruption, led by example from those at the very top.
Kawak: Hadi, please tell the rakyat why are you not reprimanding Najib for his wrongdoing and Umno for its corrupt culture?
That is why we suspect you have already taken "dedak". Hadi, you aimed to frighten your supporters and also Malay voters by invoking God. But are you God to decide who will be punished?
Kuasa Rakyat: PAS has transformed from a religious party to a racial party; from a party with integrity to one which has sold itself for political gains. From caring for the rakyat to caring for themselves. From exposing wrongdoings to supporting it. All this under Hadi.
PAS members must stop this rot in PAS under Hadi. Stop voting PAS to send a message to Hadi that he is destroying PAS for his own personal and selfish political ambition.
Mojo Jojo: You may not be explicitly involved in any major corruption scandal, but what does it say about people like you who support someone like Najib who is involved in the 1MDB scandal?
What does it say about your character in supporting a man who received huge amounts of 'donations' from dubious sources?
You're right, Hadi, people should not vote for the wrong party for fear of divine retribution. In this case, a vote for PAS is clearly a one-way ticket to Tartarus and oblivion.
Cmfoo: Suffering from a lack of credibility due to supporting the corrupt and a lack of any innovative ideas to win hearts and minds, trust Hadi to invoke divine intervention to coerce Malay voters to support the diminishing relevance of PAS.
6th Generation Immigrant: Even before hudud is introduced or agreed on, some leaders are already deputising for God on earth.
If there are many more self-appointed deputies, chaos shall set in. There is nothing divine or evil in the people’s right to choose their own representatives in the government, these are all agreed societal norms.
This particular leader cannot even assure that he himself is acceptable to God - no one breathing in this world can - so stop using the name of God in vain and using Him as a threat for personal gains.
Anonymous 122461436161429: When all else fails, invoke the name of God. Hadi must really think the Malays are stupid. Wake up, Malay Muslims, and put a stop to these thugs threatening you like this with religion.
Surely, you have got a brain to realise that selecting a candidate to represent you in Parliament has nothing to do with hell and damnation.
Headhunter: Voters should take Hadi's warning to heart by not voting those who steal our money and using draconian laws to hang on to power.

In other words, do not cast your vote for the BN/PAS.
Doc: Maybe Hadi should put in a provision into his hudud law - that voting for the wrong candidate in any election can result in amputation of hands for angering Allah. - Mkini
