Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said a person requires much practice if he or she seeks to defeat him.
Nope, this was not a message to former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad or his other political opponents.
The prime minister mentioned this in a Facebook post, which depicted a photograph of him playing chess with his nephews at his mother’s house.
Najib said the match took place after breaking fast with his family.
“My nephews asked me to play a game of chess after tarawih prayers.
“They are quite good (at the game) despite being only between six and seven-years-old.
“But (they) need a lot of practice before they can defeat me,” read the caption.
The posting garnered close to 16,000 ‘likes’ and more than 1,200 comments.
In the political arena, Najib is also embroiled in a protracted chess match, with 90-year-old grandmaster Mahathir employing every possible move since last year to checkmate him.
The prime minister, however, has denied the allegations against him, and blamed them on Mahathir and those conspiring with the latter to topple him. - Mkini
