Imagine waking up one morning, all excited to go to school just to find it missing.
That's probably what the students of SK Kampung Buda in Spaoh, Sarawak have to go through when parts of their school collapsed and disappeared into the Saribas River on Thursday .
According to a news report by The Star Online, the school's nursery, several classrooms and a surau collapsed into the river in the pre-dawn incident.
Betong Fire and Rescue Department officer Sapuan Abu told the news portal that the nursery and surau reportedly collapsed due to erosion at the riverbank. The school's structure was made of wood and was built almost entirely on stilts above the Saribas River, the report stated.
Eight personnel led by fire officer Tony Morni rushed to the scene after receiving an alert at 4.05am, Sapuan said.
Sapuan added that there were no casualties and no one was at the school as it was the school holidays.
