Rosmah’s aide sneers at smear experts

Rizal says opposition have become experts at defaming PM and his wife to create public anger.

PETALING JAYA: Opposition parties were described today as experts at defaming the prime minister and his wife, after leaflets were circulated about Najib Razak’s family life and marriages.

Leaflets about the purported lavish spending habits of Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor have been distributed at opposition election ceramah in Sungai Besar.

Last night, an eight-page booklet was distributed at a ceramah in Dataran Tonggak attended by about 200 people. It was believed to give accounts about Najib’s history, of Najib and his two marriages, first to Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar, otherwise known as Ku Yie, and later to Rosmah.

Rosmah’s aide, Rizal Mansor, said it only showed that the opposition were running out of issues and were merely playing on the same old issues to create public hatred of the country’s leader.

He said the opposition had become experts in defaming the Prime Minister and his wife.

“Such defamation about the prime minister and his family by the opposition is expected. It’s seasonal especially during by-elections. That’s their work and their expertise,” he told FMT when commenting on the leaflets.

Two parliamentary by-elections are being held this week, in Sungai Besar, Selangor, and Kuala Kangsar, Perak, after the sitting MPs died in a helicopter crash in Sarawak last month.

Polling for both seats takes place on Saturday.
