Husam welcomes legal action by company in carbon trade issue

Any defamation suit filed over remarks made against carbon credit firm Climate Protectors Sdn Bhd will only help to resolve various issues affecting interests of the Kelantan state government and the general public, Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Husam Musa said today.
In a statement, Husam as such welcomed a reported legal threat by the company's chief executive officer Tang Too Siah against parties who repeated the Salor assemblyperson's initial remarks against the company.
"It is my duty as an Adun to protect the interest of the state and my people.
"Your threat to sue will not change my duties and responsibilities to speak up...," he stressed.
Husam in a press conference on July 3 had raised concerns about the Kelantan government's engagement of Climate Protectors Sdn Bhd for its carbon trading plan.
This was after Bank Negara Malaysia placed the company on the Consumer Financial Alert list for allegedly collecting deposits without approval.
The company provided cryptocurrency dubbed Ecobits.
Husam, meanwhile, said that he has continued to receive numerous complaints including from Indonesia and other countries on an alleged online scam involving BTC Panda and one TS Tang.
"I have so far been unable to confirm whether the claims are true or otherwise.
"I hope Mr Tang can publicly explain whether he is involved in the claims or otherwise. And whether he is the TS Tang mentioned by the complainant," said Husam.
"If the TS Tang who is involved with BTC Panda is the same as Mr Tang Too Siah from Climate Protector and EcoBit, then I believe my warning to the Kelantan state government is important and urgent," he said.
At the same time, he also urged the police to expedite investigations on at least 10 reports lodged against
In a statement yesterday, the company warned of possible legal action over Husam's comments against the company.

Climate Protector Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Tang Too Siah said his company may also take legal action against those who published Husam's statement.
"Climate Protectors and I are currently seeking legal advice from our solicitors with regard to our legal rights following the statements published during the press conference as well as all the republication in newspaper and/or social media.
"We reserve our rights to take legal action against those who are responsible for publishing and/or circulating such statement," he said.- Mkini
