NAJIB CAMP ACCUSE AMBIGA & THOMAS OF CO-MASTERMINDING RAFIZI’S ‘KAJANG MOVE’: BUT AS KHALID IBRAHIM SHOWS HIS TRUE COLORS, RAFIZI WAS SPOT ON

“The trio undertook in a secret agreement to seek an out-of-court settlement with Khalid. As the story goes, Rafizi threatened to tell on Ambiga, who responded by threatening to tell on him and risk having Azmin become Menteri Besar. Saifuddin, who was caught in the middle, threatened to tell on the both of them if neither could come to an agreement”
On Wednesday, the 6th of September 2017, Malaysiakini ran an editorial featuring the ever so controversial Rafizi Ramli, the man credited – or, as some might say, discredited – for architecting the fatal Kajang Move. The Pandan Member of Parliament (MP) shocked everyone when he implicated Dato’ Ambiga Sreneevasan of playing a pivotal role in deposing the former Menteri Besar of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“Prior to Kajang Move, I met her (Ambiga) personally at Bangsar Shopping Centre over lunch to listen to her views on the performance of the Selangor MB then,” Rafizi said, adding“At the meeting, she also passed a document that eventually formed one of the key considerations that led to PKR’s decision to remove Khalid Ibrahim through the Kajang Move”
Under normal circumstances, I would have bushed that statement off as yet another lie by the Pandan MP. After all, we’re talking about a man who, on the 13th of September 2017, declared that the Prime Minister’s visit to Washington was not in official capacity, despite a statement issued by the Office of the Press Secretary to the White House stating the contrary.
The Pandan MP once told a forum that rising fuel prices would allow Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to purchase more diamond rings, only to tell a court later that the remark was uttered in jest. And let us not forget the time he accused National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFC) of using public funds to purchase a property in KL Eco City, Bangsar.
On the 1st of November 2016, he was ordered by the Kuala Lumpur High Court to pay NFC Corp RM200,000 in damages after failing to furnish the judge with evidence in typical Clare Rewcastle Brown fashion. The NFC case was one of many – prior to the 13th general election, he even trained his guns on Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in an attempt to reduce the Home Minister’s chances of getting re-elected.
And it is no wonder I was sceptical of his statement at first. But curiosity got the better of me when I realised that Ambiga stayed eerily silent despite being accused of inspiring the Kajang Move. It was then that my team decided to investigate if indeed the lady who garbs herself with t-shirts bearing calls for justice had anything to do with the democratic thievery PKR committed against Khalid in 2014.
And what I discovered truly shocked me.
It appears that not only was Rafizi telling the truth, there is more to the Kajang story than anyone could ever imagine. Apparently, the Pandan MP met Ambiga on the 23rd of August 2013 to discuss Khalid and the reasons the latter needed to be brought down. During the encounter, Rafizi asked the former Bersih co-chairperson if she knew that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was consorting with NGOs and village elders around Selangor to solicit their support towards a multi-layered transition plan.
According to Rafizi, he was “kept in the dark by Anwar about many things” and needed to know if Anwar had approached Bersih to propose the plan. It was then that Ambiga told him of a meeting she had with Anwar to discuss Khalid’s removal. The former Bersih co-chairperson voiced her concern that Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali would be made Menteri Besar in the event Anwar was found guilty of sodomy and jailed.
Nobody, except Dato’ Ambiga Sreneevasan.
When she laid the plan out to Rafizi, the Pandan MP was flabbergasted and quickly agreed to fast-track Khalid’s removal. Both he and Ambiga concurred that Anwar needed to be made Menteri Besar before the court could sentence him to jail. The duo also agreed that Khalid was a tough nut to crack, that accusing him of mismanagement alone “wasn’t enough to kick him out.”
It was then that Ambiga informed Rafizi of a ‘friend’ who, according to her, possessed documents that would be of use against Khalid. The ‘friend’ she was referring to was a solicitor who went by the name of Tommy Thomas. Apparently, this Thomas fellow knew of Khalid’s dealings with Bank Islam and arranged for confidential documents to be leaked to the PKR leadership.
Now, the only Tommy Thomas I know who could have performed such a feat is a lawyer linked directly to Bank Islam. Regardless, Ambiga’s friend from the dark helped team Rafizi and Saifuddin Nasution come up with a 91-page dossier that offered six reasons why Khalid needed to go. One of the reasons listed was the former Menteri Besar’s out-of-court settlement with Bank Islam which, according to Saifuddin and Rafizi, was highly ‘questionable’.
