Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof says the Kinabatangan MP has promised to do so in the next sitting of the Dewan Rakyat
DEWAN RAKYAT
KUALA LUMPUR: Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) has agreed to make an open apology in the next Dewan Rakyat sitting, for using the “F” word last week.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof said he had received an application from Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin for the motion she had filed to be postponed to the next session.
“This is because Bung Moktar has agreed to say sorry over the word he uttered.
“However, he has asked for permission to leave Parliament today due to urgent matters. He has promised to make an open apology in the Dewan Rakyat in the next sitting,” Ariff said before adjourning the sitting.
Zuraida (PH-Ampang) had filed a motion to refer Bung Moktar to the Rights and Privileges Committee for uttering the “F” word.
“The usage of the rude word by Kinabatangan has offended other MPs, especially female parliamentarians, as it tarnished the prestige and good name of the house.
“Therefore it is agreed that Bung Moktar be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee on his act which was deemed to have insulted the house,” the motion stated.
Bung Moktar had caused a stir last week when he uttered “F*** you” during the debate on the Sales Bill 2018, after Willie Mongin (PH-Puncak Borneo) had asked him if he had gone to a casino.
To this, Bung Moktar said: “What is this? You are rude. You don’t deserve to sit here.
“Gangster,” he added. “You want to fight? F*** you.” -FMT
