Composition of PAC announced, Harapan gets lion's share


The Dewan Rakyat's Selection Committee has nominated the full line-up of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which was today unveiled before the House.
The appointment of the PAC members was made a day after the Dewan Rakyat approved the appointment of Ronald Kiandee (BN-Beluran) and Wong Kah Woh (Harapan-Ipoh Timur, above) as the PAC chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively, on Aug 7.
On Aug 8, the Dewan Rakyat Selection Committee, chaired by speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof, appointed another 12 members into the PAC.
According to the Dewan Rakyat's standing orders, the chairperson and deputy chairperson of the PAC are appointed by the Dewan Rakyat while its remaining members are appointed by the Selection Committee.
Harapan obtained the lion's share of representation with nine MPs (including Kah Woh), while BN has three MPs. PAS and PBB each have one representative in the 14-member committee.
Among Harapan parliamentarians in the committee, PKR has four MPs – Wong Chen (Subang), Akmal Masrullah Mohd Nasir (Johor Bahru), Willie Mongin (Puncak Borneo) and Steven Choong (Tebrau). 
Aside from Wong, DAP's first-time MPs Wong Hon Wai (Bukit Bendera) and Wong Shu Qi (Kluang) were also included.
Amanah, meanwhile, named Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus (Hulu Langat) while Bersatu's newbie Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar) are their respective parties' sole members in the PAC.
Former PAC chairperson Hasan Arifin (Rompin) and Ahmad Hamzah (BN-Jasin) were appointed as PAC members.
PBB, the ruling party in Sarawak state government, appointed Robert Lawson Chuat (Betong) as its PAC representative.
Eight of the PAC members are first-time parliamentarians. ​​​​​​​
Besides the PAC, three other main committees – House Committee, Standing Order Committee and Right and Privileges Committee – were formed. 
The three committees are chaired by the Speaker. 
The Standing Order Committee comprises: Shahruddin Md Salleh (Harapan-Sri Gading), Hannah Yeoh (Harapan-Segambut), Dr Azman Ismail (Harapan-Kuala Kedah), Mansor Othman (Harapan- Nibong Tebal), Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) and Ahmad Amzad Mohamed @ Hashim (PAS-Kuala Terengganu). 
The House Committee constitutes: Mohamed Hanipa Maidin (Harapan-Sepang), Johari Abdul (PKR-Sungai Petani), Nurul Izzah Anwar (Harapan-Permatang Pauh), Alice Lau (Harapan-Lanang), Azalina Othman Said (BN-Pengerang) and Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (PAS-Kubang Kerian). 
Members of the Right and Privileges Committee are: Md Farid Md Rafik (Harapan-Tanjung Piai), Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (Harapan-Kapar), V Sivakumar (Harapan-Batu Gajah), Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera) and Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (PAS-Kuala Nerus).  - Mkini
