The MACC yesterday arrested a former Kedah assemblyperson for allegedly misappropriating state funds.
He was detained when he presented himself at the Kedah MACC office about 4pm yesterday to give his statement, and is expected to be brought to the Alor Setar Magistrate's Court for remand proceeding today.
According to sources, the suspect is a “Datuk” in his 60s, and had applied for an allocation of RM30,000 from the menteri besar in February last year, ostensibly to host a programme.
However, the money was not used for its stated purpose once it had been approved.
Kedah MACC director Mohd Fauzi Mohamad confirmed the arrest when contacted. - Mkini
