Mukhriz Mahathir says PPBM is adopting the delegates voting method practised by Umno but will improve it by implementing the one member, one vote system.
ALOR SETAR: PPBM says it will amend its constitution to enable the adoption of the one member, one vote system in the party election which is expected to take place this year.
PPBM constitutional improvement committee chairman Mukhriz Mahathir said the amendment would be made after the party’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM), to be held in the near future.
“Based on the party constitution, PPBM is adopting the delegates voting method as practised by Umno, but the party wants to make an improvement by implementing the one member, one vote system.
“We will hold an EGM to approve the amendment before handing it over to the Registrar of Societies (RoS). The amendment will only be applicable once approval is received from RoS,” he told a press conference.
He said this after the winding-up debate on the motion of thanks on the speech by the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, at the state legislative assembly at Wisma Darul Aman here yesterday. -FMT
