Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's call for cabinet ministers to be sensitive on issuing statements about Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) should be taken seriously because the institution is close to the hearts of many, says Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
In fact, he admitted that he himself had benefited from the institution.
“Mara has helped many people including myself and other families,” he told a press conference after the launch of a non-governmental organisation, Pertubuhan Cintai Malaysia (PCM), and its donation drive to raise funds for Tabung Harapan Malaysia in Petaling Jaya today.
Mahathir was reported to have made the call after chairing Bersatu top leadership meeting last Friday.
Syed Saddiq added what needed to be improved was the aspects of governance in Mara.
