Umno sec-gen: Guan Eng left out of China trip because he offended Beijing?

PARLIAMENT | Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa has questioned whether Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was left out of the delegation to China because he offended Beijing.
“I would like to ask the finance minister: Are the claims true that China did not allow him to join the delegation to China due to, maybe, a misunderstanding or actions which may have offended the China government?”
Annuar (BN-Ketereh) raised this in the Dewan Rakyat today during the second reading of the Supply Bill to re-allocate funds to the ministries following the restructurings carried out after 14th general election (GE14).
There are also accusations, he said, that Lim was involved in urging the MACC to raid China-owned companies and that this affected the minister’s relationship with Beijing.
“This needs to be explained. It may be false news and it may be untrue, but the image of our finance minister is damaged by such accusations,” Annuar said.
Annuar also urged the government to respond to the claim from Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (Harapan-Kapar) that Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali was colluding with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his advisor Daim Zainuddin to prevent a transition of power to Anwar Ibrahim.
"The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) chairperson has been accused of conspiring with the prime minister to prevent the transfer of power and Gombak (Azmin) is also involved.
"The accusation didn't come from a nobody either. It came from a member of Parliament from the government itself," Annuar said.
He said he is bringing up this issue to provide the government with a chance to respond to the allegation.
Two-year time frame
Earlier today, Abdullah Sani claimed that Mahathir, Daim and Azmin were plotting to prevent Anwar from taking over as prime minister.
Mahathir had previously indicated that the two-year time frame for the transfer of power is flexible, stating on numerous occasions that he would remain at the helm if the people wanted him to do so.

Even so, the premier has repeatedly assured that Anwar will succeed him as prime minister. - Mkini
