Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa (above) today confirmed that former party supreme council member Mustapa Mohamed and two other Kelantan Umno leaders were probed by the police.
According to Annuar, they were questioned over several days pertaining to allegations that they received funds from certain quarters.
"I can confirm that Kelantan Umno, including Tok Pa (Mustapa), were questioned by the police several days ago regarding the funds received.
"Tok Pa received a substantial amount and that was investigated by the police," Annuar told a press conference at the Umno headquarters at the PWTC today.
Mustapa, who is Jeli MP, announced on Tuesday that he is quitting Umno, after 40 years in the party.
Less than 24 hours after his resignation, Kimanis MP and former foreign minister, Anifah Aman, followed suit.
