NAJIB Razak’s children tonight posted messages of support for their father who is currently in custody and faces charges tomorrow over RM2.6 billion he claims he received as a donation.
The former prime minister’s son, Ashman, wrote on his Instagram account that he was “filled with trepidation” and prayed for fair treatment for his father.
“I can’t imagine the kind of tribulation that you are facing in there… Can’t wait to bring you to your favourite yong tau foo place when you are released daddy,” Ashman posted along with a photo of Najib and a bowl of the dish.
Najib’s daughter, Nooryana, meanwhile wrote that she was “pained” at being separated from the family at this time and that she was unable to sleep in Boston, US.
“(I’m) unable to go back to sleep, thinking about your safety and how Mummy, Ashman and everyone else is coping back home,” Nooryana said on Instagram along with a photo of herself and her son, Adam.
She also included a quote by US president Theodore Roosevelt about men who suffer but come out triumphant, and men who fail but do so “while daring greatly” as an encouragement to her father.
Najib was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at its headquarters this afternoon and is to face charges under the MACC Act at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 3pm tomorrow.
He is already facing separate charges for money-laundering, corruption and misuse of his position, over the transfer of RM42 million from SRC International into his account. SRC is a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
Ashman and Nooryana are Najib’s children living in condo units at the Pavilion Residences which police raided soon after Pakatan Harapan took over the federal government on May 9.
Najib’s family have complained that several personal items belonging to the children were swept up in the raid.
