Kashoggi Murder Heats Up : USA, Turkey Exploring "Cover Story", But Saudis Dont Care

  • Trump said possible “rogue killers”
  • Turkey suggesting that “deep state” responsible
  • little interest from Saudi, do not fear consequences

When this story first broke, an astute friend of mine said that the murder of Jamal Kashoggi the Saudi journalist and critic inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul must have happened with the knowledge of Erdogan. But anti-Erdogan or non-Erdogan friendly Turkish Police or Security Personnel must have leaked out the details of his murder to the Press, putting Erdogan on the spot as well.

It is emerging now that both the US and Turkey are helping to create cover stories for the Saudis to shift blame for Kashoggi's murder AWAY from the Saudi Crown Prince to the 15 man team that was sent to Istanbul to murder Kashoggi.

Here be the news, this is from the New York Times :

WASHINGTON — Trump said Mon he spoke with king of Saudi
ruler denied knowledge of disappearance of Saudi journalist
Trump said possible “rogue killers” behind disappearance of journalist

Trump said Sec of State Pompeo traveling to Saudi to meet King Salman

(OSTB : If rogue killers had killed Kashoggi in Istanbul, then why should the US Secretary of State have to travel all the way from Washington to Saudi Arabia to meet with their king? Rogue killers in Istanbul will be handled by the Turkish Police - not between the US Secretary of State and the Saudi Arabian king in Riyadh. This sounds like setting the stage for a cover up.)

Trump said his conversation with King Salman lasted 20 minutes
sounded like maybe these could have been rogue killers, who knows, Trump said

He told Salman “world is watching, world is talking, very important to get to bottom”
pressure from Congress to respond with economic sanctions
interview with CBS Trump said still possible Saudis responsible
Trump said Khashoggi is journalist, case even more serious
something really terrible, disgusting about that Trump told CBS
“We’re going to get to the bottom of it, there will be severe punishment.”
Friends of Khashoggi speculate he was on Crown prince’s blacklist.

The following is from The Guardian (which broke the Jason Bourne story as well - he he).

Khashoggi left iPhone with fiancée, Hatice Cengiz waiting outside
told her to raise alarm if he did not emerge after 4 hours

He had Apple watch synced to his iPhone
Turkish officials said iPhone now focus of investigation

(OSTB : Most certainly the Turks have extracted whatever sounds and voices that were recorded via the Apple iPhone sync. That is how so much details have been "leaked" out - the killing, dismembering the body etc. There is no way Trump can help Turkey cover this up. There will be leaks. There always are. Here is a quick video about how to sync your iPhone with an Apple watch :

Turkey had in recent days attempted to offer Riyadh a way to de-escalate a crisis ..by suggesting that a “deep state” and not senior Saudi officials were responsible for Khashoggi’s disappearance.

However, there has been little interest from the kingdom, leading some senior Turkish officials to conclude that Riyadh does not fear the consequences.

Prince Mohammed said his govt “very keen to know what happened to him”
