College student arrested for threatening JPJ tester with knife

NILAI - An 18-year-old college student who failed his driving test for the third time has been detained after he used a knife to threaten the Road Transport Department (JPJ) tester who failed him.
Nilai OCPD Supt Mohd Nor Marzukee said the student became annoyed after he was told by the officer that he had to fail him for violating several traffic rules, including running a red light.
"The JPJ officer told the suspect to stop the car by the roadside before a traffic light junction in Batang Benar after noticing that he had violated several traffic rules.
"This riled up the suspect who then immediately took out a 30cm knife from a bag he had and pointed it towards the officer's abdomen.
"The suspect then apparently threatened the officer to pass him," he said adding that the incident happened around 10.30am on Tuesday (Jan 8).

Supt Mohd Nor said the officer was shaken by this and immediately got out of the car before calling the police, who detained the suspect and brought him to the Mantin station for questioning.
A urine test conducted on the suspect from Kuala Lumpur returned negative.
He said the case was being investigated under section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation which carries a jail term of two years, a fine or both.- Star
