No public holiday on Jan 31

The government has denied speculation that Jan 31 will be declared a public holiday.
A viral message had claimed that the public holiday is in conjunction with the swearing-in of the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
The Malaysian Government Call Centre (MGCC) clarified that the Conference of Rulers' special meeting on Jan 31 is for the oath-taking ceremony of the new king.
However, the coronation will not be held on that day, hence there will be no public holiday declared.
The Conference of Rulers will meet earlier, on Jan 24, to decide who will be the new Agong.
Pahang’s newly installed ruler, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, is widely expected to be crowned as the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
The Agong position fell vacant following the unprecedented resignation of Kelantan's Sultan Muhammad V on Jan 6. - Mkini
