Hadi: There’s a plot to topple Dr M

PUTRAJAYA: PAS maintains that there is a plot within Pakatan Harapan for a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said they had information on the matter.
“If there’s no wind, the trees won’t sway,” he said in Terengganu yesterday.
A video clip of him speaking to the media on the matter was posted on his Facebook page.
Asked if PAS had information on the purported plan, he said: “Yes we do, and that is why we give our support (to Dr Mahathir).
“This is in the interest of Islamic leadership. This is an important and a serious matter.”
He reiterated his pledge that PAS would support Dr Mahathir should a vote of no confidence come to pass.
“We will support him, even though we are in the opposition,” Abdul Hadi added.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim doesn’t think so. The PKR president rubbished Hadi’s claims.
Anwar said should a motion of no-confidence were to come, it would be from Hadi.
“It is Hadi’s motion. Let him move the motion,” Anwar told reporters in Petaling Jaya after a conference at Universiti Malaya.
Anwar also said that speculation of a move to topple Dr Mahathir was just PAS’ attempt to “sow the seeds of discord”.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan earlier said the party had an inkling that something was brewing within Pakatan, which prompted its leadership to discuss the matter with Dr Mahathir during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The meeting resulted in a draft letter in which PAS pledged that its 18 MPs would back Dr Mahathir should there be a vote of no confidence against him in the Dewan Rakyat.
In the video clip, Abdul Hadi also expressed concern that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia could lose in the Semenyih by-election.
“If Bersatu loses, it is because DAP and PKR are not doing their share of work to help.
“Don’t blame us when it is DAP and PKR who are not going to the ground,” he said.- Star
