Dear _ _ _ _
I am a keen follower of your blog and have never written to you before. Anyway here is a sample of the latest Sekolah Kebangsaan jadual waktu from my own children's school. I guess you can reproduce this time table but you shud remove the name of the school and teachers.
Not many are aware of the amount spent on agama, arab, tasmik, yassin and ulum classes compared to maths and science. Even my 'ustazah' friends are shocked to see one whole period spent per week on yassin ??
After taking a look at this time table, I hope more Malaysians will understand what the PM meant when he said Sekolah Kebangsaan have become Sekolah Agama.
The teras syllabus (maths and science) is already very hard for our children to catch up, and the little time allocated to them per week, makes it impossible for the teachers to spend time teaching them properly.
As a result, some pages of the text books are skipped and the children rely on extra private tuition to catch up.
As for us, we have resorted to sending our children to an international school this year. What a change. They learn maths every day and the teachers go through every single page of the Cambridge syllabus textbook slowly and steadily.
They also learn current affairs and general knowledge, history and world geography. They even have a period each week for 'character forming'.
Please do something about this Mr Syed. Thank you.
Best regards,
A very concerned mother.

My comments : Well Puan thank you for your letter and the information. You have taken a big step by moving your children to an international school. They will have a much better future than if they continued to study at the sekolah kebangsaan.
Firstly there is not going to be any change. Tun Dr Mahathir has said that there will not be any Cabinet reshuffle. This means the pro Muslim Brotherhood jihadi fellow will continue to be the Minister.
Secondly the Minister does not seem to care what the Prime Minister says. And since there will be no Cabinet reshuffle, it simply means no one really cares either.
There are at least 13 periods of religious classes per week.
Maths has SIX periods, Science has THREE periods while English gets EIGHT periods.
What is more important to keep in mind is that other non Muslim students in this school, non Muslim students in Singapore, in Finland etc DO NOT waster 13 periods every week studying religion in school.
These non Muslim students in this school, in Singapore, in Finland etc will spend an extra 13 periods learning other more useful and practical knowledge.
Plus their young minds will not be corrupted by exposure to 13 periods a week of fairy tales, stories that have no scientific or logical thinking or proofs and learning how to hate other human beings.
So this by itself will save the non Muslim students from becoming confused and less 'educated' compared to the Muslim students. This is a very big difference.
They do not see that the problem lies in the religion.
