KUALA LUMPUR: An online gambling centre barely got off the ground when a police raid ended its operations only two days after it began.
Dang Wangi Deputy OCPD Supt Rudy Abdullah said that the raid was made on Tuesday (April 2) night.
“The police acted on information gathered and raided a shop house along Jalan Petaling. Twelve suspects were arrested, including the players and shop workers, aged between 28 to 51 years old.
“Preliminary investigations showed that the shop had only been in operation for two days, and that the premise had been used for similar purposes in the past,” he said in a press conference at the district headquarters on Wednesday (April 3).
He added that the police also seized five laptops and two modems.
“All suspects have been remanded for three days,” he said.- Star
