Kelantan palace revokes Azeez's datukship

The Kelantan palace has revoked the datukship it awarded to Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
State secretary Nazran Muhammad confirmed the matter to Malaysiakini today.
"Yes," read Nazran's brief WhatsApp reply when asked to respond to the revocation letter making the rounds on social media.
The letter sent to Azeez prohibits him from using his 'datuk' title, as well as from engaging in activities related to the title, from April 2.
The former Tabung Haji chairperson was also instructed to return the award to the state palace with immediate effect.
Azeez is facing 12 counts of corruption and money laundering involving RM144.6 million.
The charges are under Section 4(1)(b) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001, and Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
He is accused of laundering RM139.4 million from various companies, and receiving RM5.2 million to help a company secure government projects.
Azeez's brother was also slapped with two criminal charges under Section 28(1(c) of the MACC Act for conspiring with Azeez to receive RM4 million from a company. - Mkini
