On party’s 20th anniversary, Anwar urges PKR supporters not to forget history

SEREMBAN: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has urged supporters not to forget the party’s 20 years of political struggle.

Quoting novelist and philosopher George Santayana, Anwar also expressed his hope that previous historical events would strengthen the party’s supporters.

“Abhorrent behaviour and destruction have been stopped. But novelist and philosopher George Santayana did say, ‘those who forget history, tend to repeat it’.

“This is something that must be addressed by all supporters of justice and truth so that past history will strengthen us,” he said in his message on his Facebook account, in conjunction with PKR’s 20th anniversary today.

He said the date was meaningful for supporters of change and reform.

As one of the political parties contesting in the Rantau state by-election to be held on April 13, PKR will hold special prayers and a yassin recital in the constituency this evening in conjunction with its 20th anniversary. -FMT
