The Kuala Kubu Baru Sessions Court judge who was nabbed by the MACC last month has been transferred out, confirmed Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat today.
"No, he is not suspended but he has been transferred out of Kuala Kubu Baru," she told media in Putrajaya today.
"As far as we are concerned, he is still an officer of the court. So, in terms of placement, we have placed him at the head office for administrative reasons," she said.
She said the arrangement was made based on the principle that a person was innocent until he was proven guilty.
The sessions court judge was arrested on July 22 over a bribery allegation that led to the release of undocumented migrant workers.
Last month, The Sun reported the MACC had arrested the judge, a deputy public prosecutor, a lawyer and six police officers.
They were held after a tip-off that they had colluded to facilitate the release of nine undocumented migrants who were held in custody.
The MACC raiding party supposedly found RM17,500 in the lawyer’s possession believed to be pay-offs for police personnel and the prosecutor while RM82,000 was recovered from the prosecutor’s office at the Kuala Kubu Baru Sessions Court.
The suspects were remanded for five days. - Mkini
