The Malaysian public voted for the Pakatan Harapan government so that they could see real change in the administration of the government.
Our Education system needed a lot of change and it should suit the current demand of the digital and computer innovation era.
A lot of criticism were already raised by the social medias and parties concerned that our education system is in a total mess with greater focus on religious teachings which most felt should be taught at the free time by their parents. A single period instead of 9 to 12 periods should be revamped with focus to gear our students for the needs of the current employment needs.
Most Asean countries have already introduced computer coding and programming to their young students, it is learnt that we are yet to commence although the Education Ministry claims it is planned.
Khat writing has no real commercial value except for improving a persons writing and may help students to understand the Jawi script.
To claim now that they had to push in order to publish and print the textbooks to be ready before the 2020 school term starts is just a lame excuse. Stakeholders have not been consulted properly and their views addressed.
Rather than to postpone or abort the implementation, the Education Ministry executed to go ahead without prior approval of the stakeholders involved.
Unless big stakes are involved in the publishing and printing of this Standard 4 Bahasa Melayu textbooks at the expense of the poor rakyat who are suffering to meet their ends due to the previous and current government not trying enough to solve the hikes of essential goods.
Since Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching had admitted that due to pressed for time and since it had already received prior approval by the previous regime, the Ministry 'bulldozed' the implementation.
As such it would only be rightfully for Maszlee and Teo to tender their resignation immediately since they did not undertake to seek the stakeholders views into consideration, the ones who had voted them into power with a hope to see a New Malaysia where the Malaysian people of all races could have a good marketable qualification which could earn them a handsome salary and live a happy life. - Mohd Kamal Abdullah
