Minister: If shops insist on masks, sell them at the door

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Senior Minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has advised supermarkets that insist that their clients wear masks to sell it at the door.
Ismail explained that the rules do not mandate the wearing of masks but people are advised to do so as a matter of policy.
"Some people go all the way to a supermarket to be turned away (for not wearing a mask).
"I would like to propose that supermarkets sell masks at the door if they have (mask requirements).
"If they want to encourage the wearing of masks, sell it there for RM1 or RM1.50 each.
"But don't force people to buy an entire box. The purpose is to encourage people to wear masks," he said.
Ismail was responding to a question regarding public complaints on supermarkets requiring customers to wear masks before entering their premises.
He was speaking to reporters during his daily afternoon press briefing on security arrangements due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
On the new Covid-19 cluster involving a shopping mall, Ismail said all foreign security guards must undergo Covid-19 tests.
Previously, the government had mandated that all foreign workers must undergo such tests.
On whether there will be enhanced MCO areas involving malls, Ismail said the government will act according to advice from the Health Ministry. - Mkini
