The suspects were alleged to have asked for bribes in exchange for contracts from the hospital to handle dead bodies.

PETALING JAYA: Two hospital workers have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly soliciting and taking RM30,000 in bribes from an individual in exchange for contracts to manage the remains of deceased patients.

In a statement, the anti-graft agency said that two men, a 42 and 40-year-old respectively, were arrested around 4.45pm at its Selangor office today after providing their statements.

The suspects, who work in a hospital in the state, were believed to have asked for bribes amounting to RM300 per dead body from the individual from 2018 to 2021.

Selangor MACC chief Alias Salim said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009, and that both men will be taken to the Shah Alam magistrates’ court tomorrow for a remand order. - FMT
