CHINA'S PASSENGER JET INDUSTRY TAKES OFF TO THE SKIES : OVER 1000 ORDERS FOR THE C919.

Today I would like to talk more about China. Here is more amazing news about China. We are really fortunate to live in an age to observe first hand a society which is  able to perform miracles in almost every aspect of their civilisation.

Here is a table of China vs USA GDP from 2005 and with projections into 2035:

I have read other analysis which says that China's GDP has already exceeded the USA, especially by this year 2023. The table above shows the GDP at current prices. If we look at PPP (purchasing power parity) China has gone ahead of the USA.

But look at the projections for China's GDP for the year 2025 onwards (19 months away). The Chinese GDP just takes off to the stratosphere. I believe by 2030 (seven years away) the Chinese GDP will exceed the projected US$34 TRILLION. By 2035 they will be more than US$50 TRILLION. The USA will remain at US$30++ TRILLION.

And this type of explosive economic growth is achieved by building new industries, expanding and modernising old industries and just becoming more creative and competitive.

One example of China breaking into a new industry is the passenger jet business. The Chinese had already been making smaller passenger airplanes like turbo-props (MA60, 50 seats) and smaller passenger jet aircraft like the ARJ21 (100 seats).

In the early 2000s China decided to venture into the larger passenger jet business - to compete with Boeing and Airbus.

In 2009 they began developing the C919 jetliner. Just EIGHT years later in 2017 the C919 conducted its first flight. In 2023 the C919 is already in commercial production and operation with over 1000 jets ordered by airlines all over the world.  There is a short video below.

"The C919 is China's first homegrown mainstream single-aisle passenger jet, developed and manufactured domestically in accordance with international civil aviation regulations. It carries between 156 and 168 passengers for up to 2,999 nautical miles (5,555km) on the extended range version and 2,200 nautical miles (4,075km) on the standard."

At about US190 million each the Chinese have an order book worth US190 BILLION ALREADY! That is worth about 70% of Malaysia's GDP - just from selling one airplane.

And what is really surprising is that the Americans have placed an order for 20 of these new Chinese airliners at almost US$4.0 Billion. (What happened to economic sanctions?)

Do look again at that table above which records China's explosive GDP growth in the recent past and going into the future. That is how they do it.

Here is that short video about the C919:
