Here’s how to find for hidden cameras in your hotel room

EVERY couple going on a vacation should have peace of mind, especially if they are lodging in a hotel.

However, now with the many hidden cameras easily available online, deviant hotel owners can turn their customers into unpaid pornstars.

In a video post on X, a netizen demonstrated how a camera can be secreted into an air freshener in the toilet. The small aperture in the can was cleverly disguised by the big, bold lettering. 

The video went on to advise people to be careful especially if they often stayed in hotels.

The netizen continued in the comment section, stating that there were various ways a person can search for a hidden camera in their room.

For starters, the flashlight incorporated into one’s mobile phone can be used. The netizen advised to remove all light sources in the room.

“Then shine your phone around the entire room. If there is a camera, the lens will reflect the light, revealing a small flashing dot or something bright,” he said.

Hidden cameras are also placed in unexpected items such as a wall clock, coat hanger, speaker, tissue box or even a single screw.

He advised to check all these thoroughly, especially if a small hole can be seen.

For more accuracy, people can also purchase a signal detector that has Radio Frequency Signal (RF Signal) capabilities.

This device can detect Wi-Fi cameras, wireless cameras, and recorders that use radio frequencies. 

“It’s easy to use and has a wide range. Even if the signal is weak, it can still detect it as the device is super-sensitive,” he said.

Should a mirror be present in the room, the occupant can discover if it is a two-way mirror by performing a finger test.

There should be a gap between the finger and its reflection. If there is no gap, very likely it is a two-way mirror.

“Many hidden cameras use electrical sources. If you see cables, chargers, desk lamps, or plugs that look abnormal, please check. Sometimes things that shouldn’t have plugs may actually conceal a hidden camera,” he added. – Focus Malaysia
