KUALA TERENGGANU - A keropok lekor trader was sentenced to 40 months jail by the Sessions Court here yesterday for assaulting his two-month pregnant wife with a hammer and a cement scraper last week.
Judge Mohd. Zul Zakiqudin Zulkifli made the ruling after the accused, Ahmad Isma Mirza Ahmad Zarir, 32, pleaded guilty to the charges.
Ahmad Isma Mirza was charged with injuring his wife using a hammer and cement scraper at their home in Taman Desa Baruh, Tanjong Damai, Kuala Nerus, at 11.30pm on Feb 3.
He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment, a fine, or caning upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Nabihah Hanin Ayim appeared for the prosecution. - NST
