An illegal wildlife trader was arrested in Johor on Monday following a joint intelligence operation between the police’s Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).
During the operation, a team of FRU operatives from Bukit Aman and Johor Perhilitan officers raided two premises in Bandar Baru Kangkar Pulai, Johor Bahru.
“The raid led to the arrest of a local man and the seizures of various species of protected wildlife animals,” said the Federal Police's Internal Security and Public Order Department on Facebook today.

The rescued animals included two mouse deers (pelanduk), white-rumped shama birds (burung murai batu), blue-winged leafbirds (burung daun sayap biru) and Indian white-eye birds (burung kelicap kunyit).
Police estimated the value of the seized wildlife animals at RM91,226.
“The case is being investigated under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 716),” said the police. - Mkini
