According to a well-placed source in Bukit Aman, most of 28-year-old Za’imuddin Azlan’s offences involved narcotics.
Separately, Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director Shuhaily Zain said two investigation papers related to the incident have been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action, while another probe is ongoing.
“Yesterday, two investigation papers were submitted to the AGC. The other one still requires information from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman.
On March 30, Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said five people had given their statements to assist in the investigation into the scuffle.
The investigation was being held under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their public functions.
The balloon vendor’s family has also lodged a police report.
A viral video of the incident last week showed DBKL enforcement officers getting into a scuffle with Za’imuddin, who did not have a licence, before he was eventually pinned to the ground.
DBKL claimed that the man had refused to comply with instructions and acted aggressively despite three warnings, and even pushed one of the officers.
Za’imuddin denied that he was warned three times before the altercation with the officers. - FMT
