Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s special announcement today reflects the Madani government's firm commitment to putting the people first, said the Madani Government Backbenchers Club (BBC).
BBC chairperson Shahar Abdullah said the announcement not only showed the government's seriousness but also demonstrated sensitivity to the challenges that the people faced.
“This effort is in line with the Madani Economic Framework by raising the ceiling and floor levels and all the Madani government’s hard work in attracting investment into the country is now translating into the well-being of the people.
“BBC believes that all these announced initiatives will provide tangible benefits to all Malaysians, reduce the burden of the cost of living and at the same time drive the country’s economic growth towards a more sustainable path,” he said at a press conference at Parliament today.
Earlier, Anwar announced a one-off RM100 gift to every adult citizen aged 18 and above via MyKad under the Rahmah Necessities Aid (Sara) programme.
The prime minister also announced the expansion of the Rahmah Sales programme, the maintenance of toll rates and the reduction in the price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 following targeted subsidies.
The announcement was broadcast live on all major channels, including RTM, Bernama and social media such as Facebook Live.
