The brother of Selangor Umno chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar was arrested in Kundasang, Sabah, last night for investigations into the shooting of a mechanic, The Star Online reported today.
Mohd Jusnaidi Omar, 44, also known as Mat Malaya (pic), is a suspect in the shooting of the mechanic at a air-conditioner workshop following a fight on May 6, the English daily said.
Mat Malaya was arrested with his wife, a Sabahan, and their daughter aged two months. They were detained at a homestay in Kundasang.
The Star Online said police did not recover any weapons from him at the arrest. Mat Malaya is being investigated for attempted murder and possession of a firearm.
In a previous report, Mat Malaya was said to be instigator of the fight with the mechanic. Police have been on the hunt for him since the incident.
He reportedly faced a previous drug-trafficking charge in 2007 but was freed by the High Court.
Noh, who is the older of the two brothers, was a former minister and is currently Tanjong Karang MP.
