Kluang Umno division’s annual general meeting (AGM) promises to be an explosive affair as delegates dig out the ghost of murdered Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Embattled Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin received a grand welcome as he arrived at the AGM, rivalling the mood in Seremban and Kota Melaka yesterday.
He was greeted with high spirits and even escorted by a team of kompang players as he entered the Pekan Rabu Kompleks in Kluang.
Muhyiddin, ousted from his deputy prime minister post by Umno president Najib Abdul Razak for his remarks on the 1MDB scandal, is scheduled to give an interesting speech to around 400 delegates today.
The AGM promises fireworks as a motion paper was distributed to the media listing among others, for Najib to explain the scandals and questions surrounding him.
The political motion put forth by the delegates want their party chief to explain Altanthuya’s murder, the ongoing 1MDB scandal and the purchase of the new VIP government jet exposed by PKR Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli.
Division wants tough action
"If (Najib) cannot provide a concrete answer, we ask that the division and even state Umno consider a more aggressive and thorough way in which place the importance of the party first before any individual.
“If this matter is not given any thought or action by the highest Umno leadership, we as Umno members are worried that the sacred Malay party will fall come the 14th general election," the motion read.
Another motion on the economy also highlighted the rakyat’s woes resulting from the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The motion also urged the government to immediately lower the tax from 6 to 3 percent and for a reassessment of its implementation.
The motions and grouses seem to be the same concerns highlighted by Muhyiddin in his now famous Cheras AGM speech on July 26. - M'kini
