MIC tells members to lodge report against Palanivel

MIC has urged all members to lodge police reports against former president G Palanivel for allegedly still trying to claim he is the party chief.

MIC information chief VS Mogan said Palanivel's faction should be censured for its "continuous efforts to confuse and misrepresent themselves as office-bearers of the MIC".

"I urge party members to immediately lodge a police report and reprimand this irresponsible act of Palanivel and his faction.

"We shall not let this self-centred act hinder us from moving on," Mogan said in a statement.

Palanivel was removed as MIC member and president last year, after the Registrar of Societies found the party's 2013 elections null and void due to irregularities.

Palanivel and his two vice-presidents filed a judicial review on the finding but the court dismissed their appeal.

He was sacked for breaching Article 91 of the party constitution, which bars any member from bringing party matters to court without the consent of the central working committee.
