RMAF plane crashes in Kuala S'gor, eight on board safe

A Royal Malaysian Air Force CN235 transport plane had crashed and burned in the swamps near Kuala Selangor at about 8.50am this morning.
According to Bernama, all eight on board are safe.
RMAF in a statement said the plane based in Subang Air Base was forced to perform an emergency landing on the water.
The plane was carrying eight passengers who were later assisted by local fishermen in the area.
"RMAF will set up an investigation team to identify the cause of the incident; as well as initiate recovery efforts for the plane," it added.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Sani Harul earlier confirmed the incident, with the initial call received at about 8.40am.
"According to the operations commander, smoke (from the plane) can be seen from a distance of 200m.
"Fire and rescue department officers on site had to use several boats to reach the plane," said Sani.
It understood that the plane had flown over the area as part of its rehearsal for an event later this month.
