COULD NAJIB WIN WITHOUT CHEATING: Selected voters receive cash at Umno office

Some 100 voters were spotted making a beeline for the Tanjung Karang Umno office as polling for the Sungai Besar seat neared closing this evening.

According to some of them, they were informed via telephone yesterday to present themselves at the party division office after voting.

Inside the Tanjung Karang Umno office, several counters were set up according to polling districts and voters needed to check if their names were on the list before being paid.

According to a voter, the amount of money depended on a person’s place of residence.

"I work and live in Shah Alam but my registered address allows me to vote in Sekinchan, so I got RM200," she told Malaysiakini under condition of anonymity.

"I received a phone call asking me to come and pick up the money," she added.

Another female voter who lives in Kuala Selangor but also voted in Sekinchan as per the Sungai Besar address stated on her MyKad received RM100.

Asked if she voted for Umno, she replied: "It doesn't matter.”

“They don't even know who we voted for, we only need to show the ink on our finger and must have received the phone call from them yesterday," she added.

However, some Sungai Besar voters like a man who identified himself only as Arif was disappointed for not being paid.

"I just came to try my luck, but my name is not on their list," he said, adding that he did not receive a telephone call yesterday.
