GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and businesswoman Phang Li Koon were arrested after receiving instructions from the Attorney-General's Office to charge them in court tomorrow, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said.
The commission said in a statement on Wednesday that Lim was taken from his office on Level 28, Komtar, at 5.45pm while Phang was arrested at her office on Level 6, Penang Garden in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah at 4.15pm.
The statement said the arrests were made over the issue of Lim's purchase of his bungalow (on Pinhorn Road) from Phang.
State exco member Chow Kon Yeow had told reporters that the charges against Lim were about the re-zoning approval of Magnificent Emblem’s application to convert agricultural land to residential and the purchase of the bungalow at below market value.
