Puchong bomb blast linked to IS?

PETALING JAYA: An individual who claimed to be a member of the Islamic State (IS) has admitted the early morning bomb blast at a club in Puchong today was the work of the militant group.
Sin Chew Daily reported that the Police Counter Terrorism and Criminal Investigation Department was investigating the matter as a possible terrorist attack.
According to the Chinese daily, Mohammed Wanndy Mohamad Jedi (using the name of Abu Hamza Al-Fateh in Facebook) posted on social media that the attack was carried out by two members of IS.
He had allegedly said that the bomb blast was aimed as punishment for those not respecting the month of Ramadan and carrying out vice activities.
His Facebook posting reads: “After leaving it to God and asking Allah Almighty for help, two caliphate of Malizia state launched their first attack in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, namely by targeting a nightclub filled with Kafir Harbi with grenade…
“The attack resulted in a number people injured and destroying the nightclub. They do not respect the month of Ramadan and indulged in vice activities…
“Muslims are asked to stay away from such centers of immorality and that you do not help these transgressors, you will not be the target… turn to God Almighty.”
Muhamad Wanndy, 26, a Malaysian from Durian Tunggal, Malacca, is said to have left for Syria to join the militant group.
His activities had been widely reported in the news last year after he appeared in a video footage posted on Facebook in which a man was being beheaded in Syria.
This morning, Selangor Deputy Police Chief Abdul Rahim Jaafar denied the bombing in Puchong was linked to a terrorist attack.
“We will investigate if it is motivated by business rivals or revenge,” said Abdul Rahim.
The explosion is believed to have been caused by a grenade at 2.15am this morning when patrons were watching a Euro 2016 football match.
It resulted in seven Malaysians, four men and three women and a female Chinese citizen, suffering injuries.
