PETALING JAYA: A photo of a buka puasa function believed to have been held at a church in Kuching, Sarawak, is going viral with many applauding the harmonious nature of the event.
According to the Facebook page Sarawak Edition, the buka puasa gathering was held at St Joseph’s Christian Parish Centre in Kuching and was held for Muslims in the area.
The posting was generally well-received and has been shared about 6,000 times.
Another Facebook page S4S Ari Dayak, which shared the same photo, noted that the event was held yesterday.
“This is the spirit of harmony and unity of multicultural and multiracial Sarawak,” the post was captioned along with a picture of Muslims gathered at the church.

Facebook user Ryan Yap remarked in the comments: “People here are smarter… unlike the people in Semenanjung.”
Another commenter, Aron Reed, said: “This is why I respect Sarawak. No racism” while Facebook user “Iza Iza” said: “Us here in Sarawak are never racist. We live in harmony, we live together. Please be mature. This earth is not ours, it belongs to God.”
