DAP's Rasah MP Teo Kok Seong, PKR's Seri Setia assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, students and an activist, were among those called to give statements over the Tangkap MO1 rally last weekend.
They arrived at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters at about 11am today.
Nik Nazmi said they are being investigated for allegedly "sabotaging democracy" and contravening the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and Sedition Act 1948.
"It is regrettable as we just celebrated Independence Day yesterday.
"The students showed immense courage in organising the rally to uphold justice over the scandals plaguing our country, but they are hauled up by police," he said.
Teo said while he did speak at the rally, he did so in his personal capacity when urged by the organisers, whom he had not met before.
The others called up by the police are students Anis Syafiqah Md Yusof, Aqilah Zainuzi, Amir Abd Hadi, Luqman Hakim, Luqman Nulhakim and Suhail Wan Azahar and activist Isaiah Jacob.
