Northeast District police say the suspects, aged from 17 to 25, are in remand for seven days to facilitate investigations into the murder of M Sathiwill, 20.
GEORGE TOWN: Six people were detained yesterday in connection with the murder of a hotel worker whose body was found in a unit at Flat Padang Tembak here on Wednesday.
Two of the suspects – a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old girl – were picked up in separate operations here while the rest, aged between 16 and 25 were nabbed in Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
Northeast District police chief ACP Anuar Omar said the six were brought to court this morning where a seven-day remand order was obtained to facilitate investigations into the murder of M Sathiwill, 20.
Another four suspects – aged between 15 and 30 – are also in police custody in connection with the killing of the hotel worker whose body was found wrapped in a bed sheet about 9.30am on June 28.
Initial police investigations revealed that Sathiwill was assaulted by five men at the corridor of the 16th floor of the flats before being dragged into his room and bludgeoned to death. -FMT
