With Siti Hasmah out, Dr M says Najib poised for GE14 grand slam win

Dr Mahathir Mohamad served a sarcastic retort to the Wheelchair Tennis Malaysia's decision to drop his wife Siti Hasmah Ali as its patron.
As expected, his target was Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The former premier claimed that Siti Hasmah's removal from the organisation, Najib is poised to win big in the coming general election.
"She is a very important person in politics. She is very effective in influencing the public through any organisation where she is a patron.
"I believe Najib is relieved because my wife is no longer the Wheelchair Tennis Malaysia patron. He can sleep well for he has done something that has made him very popular," he added.
Mahathir, in a video posted on Facebook, said he and his wife of six decades are now persona non grata among some of their friends.
"We share our lives. Whatever happens to me, she accepts. Whatever happens to her, I accept it too. We don't feel threatened or afraid due to such threats.
"Nowadays, our friends run away when they see us. People don't want to be near us because it can lead to government reprisal.
"This is a new aspect in the government today. (You) cannot be my friend," he added.

Last Friday, the police had questioned Siti Hasmah, 91, with regard to a protest held last September against "toxic politics".
Following this, critics and her legal team claimed that this was an intimidation tactic. However, the police denied this.
Yesterday, it was established that Siti Hasmah had been dropped as the patron of the Wheelchair Tennis Malaysia, the governing body for the sport.- Mkini
