Najib slams PH as baht strengthens against ringgit

Former prime minister Najib Razak.
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak today hit out at Pakatan Harapan after the ringgit slumped to its lowest level against the Thai baht, touching RM13 to 100 baht.
In a Facebook post, Najib said three years ago, when global oil prices dropped by 80%, PH had played up “propaganda” that Thai traders did not want to accept ringgit any more.
He said the ringgit was recovering against the baht before the 14th general election.
“However, the value of the ringgit against the baht went down after GE14 until it reached the 100 baht to RM13 mark for the first time.
“This comes at a time when global oil prices have recovered and are now two-and-a-half times more than three years ago.”
He said yesterday the ringgit reached a record low against the baht at RM13.15 to 100 baht (RM1 to 7.60 baht).
Najib, the former finance minister, said PH used to claim “Najib turun, ringgit naik (Najib falls, ringgit goes up)”.
“I have fallen and (Lim) Guan Eng has gone up. But the ringgit has fallen further.

“What is Guan Eng’s excuse?” he said, referring to the finance minister. - FMT
