Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu has been discharged from the Sibu hospital in Sarawak after contracting the Covid-19 virus in March.
The 61-year-old DAP lawmaker was in a coma for 42 days.
He was first hospitalised on March 7 as a person under investigation (PUI) for the coronavirus and tested positive on March 15.
Sarawak DAP deputy chairperson David Wong described the veteran politician's discharge as "good news for us."
"He was in a coma for up to 42 days in the hospital.
“We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all health care providers at the hospital for helping Wong and all other Covid-19 patients," he added, according to the Star.
David said Wong is now resting at home and it is unclear when he would return to work.
“As to when he would be back at work, we are not thinking of that at this moment.
"Even the doctors will not advise him on when he should get back to work. Now is the time for us to pray for his full recovery," he added.
The MP had contracted the virus from his father while his 27-year-old son, national hammer thrower Jackie Wong, also tested positive and was warded at the Sibu hospital.
