CORONAVIRUS | After three days of new cases in the single-digits, the number of new Covid-19 cases re-entered double digits with 31 new cases reported as of noon today.
The Health Ministry said of these, 11 involved imported cases, while of the 20 local transmissions, only one involved a Malaysian from a tahfiz school screening in Selangor.
This brings the total number of infected cases in Malaysia to 8,369, with 1,186 active cases.
Of the 19 cases among foreigners, 16 cases are from the Negeri Sembilan cluster, and one each from the Kampung Sungai Lui cluster in Selangor; Kuala Lumpur cleaning company and Kuala Lumpur construction site cluster.
All 11 imported cases were from Egypt and were recorded in Malacca where they had been quarantined.
Meanwhile, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (above) said a total of 51 recoveries were recorded as of mid-day today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,065 or 84.4 percent.
Five positive cases are in the intensive care unit, and none require breathing aid.
No new deaths were recorded, with the death toll remaining at 118 or 1.41 percent of total cases.
Yesterday, Malaysia recorded two cases, the lowest number of new cases recorded since the start of the movement control order (MCO) period on March 18.
