PETALING JAYA: Taman Langat Murni in Banting, Selangor, has come under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) with police and army personnel moving to erect barbed wire fencing around the area at about midnight last night.
A source from the Kuala Langat district office who spoke to FMT said the area was placed under EMCO after more than 20 foreigners there tested positive for Covid-19.
The last location to come under EMCO before this was the Petaling Jaya Old Town market area, which was locked down on May 10 after 26 cases of Covid-19 were detected among traders and workers there.
Other areas that were put under complete lockdown were Jalan Masjid India and Menara City One in Kuala Lumpur, and the surrounding areas of the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market in Selayang, Selangor.
Last month, the health ministry said foreign workers were now included in the targeted group for Covid-19 screening following a spike in cases involving those from the community. - FMT
